Tips for Getting Your Place Guest-Ready
June 2023
When you’re expecting guests, you don’t have to stress about giving your apartment or townhome a deep clean from top to bottom. But there are a few areas that are worth paying attention to. By giving these spots a quick once-over, you can make your place look tidy and welcoming in just about 10 minutes.
Let’s start with the entryway. It’s often overlooked, but it’s actually the first thing your guests see when they arrive. A clean entryway sets a positive tone for the rest of your apartment. Simply remove any clutter that’s accumulated there. Put away everything you usually leave out, and if you have a shoe or coat rack, find another spot to store your items temporarily. This way, your guests will have plenty of space to put their belongings.
Next up is the bathroom. It’s important to ensure it’s in good shape for your guests. Begin by cleaning the fixtures. Give them a quick wipe down with a disinfectant cleaning wipe. Then swap out your towels for fresh ones. Finally, make sure you have enough toilet paper and soap available for your guests.
Now, let’s move on to the kitchen. This is often the heart of the home and a gathering spot for guests. Start by putting away any unnecessary clutter that’s hanging around. Then, give your counters, sink, and appliances a wipe down with disinfectant cleaning wipes. And don’t forget to take out the garbage! The kitchen trash can be the culprit behind any lingering odors, and nobody wants to welcome their guests with the scent of last night’s dinner.
Lastly, take a few minutes to tidy up your floors. Pick up any throw blankets, pillows, or magazines that may be lying around. If you have the time, give your floors a quick sweep, use a dust mop, or run the vacuum. But if you’re pressed for time, don’t worry about it. A clear floor gives the impression of a clean home, even if you haven’t had a chance to do a full cleaning session.
