Spring Carnival at Bristol Mountain

Savoring the Season?

So, the groundhog was spot-on in his prediction this year, but it’s been a solid six weeks since Phil saw his shadow. With just a few days until the official first day of Spring, Western New Yorkers are getting a little antsy for temperatures above 40 degrees. The silver lining to all those snow clouds, however, is the best ski season that local mountains have seen in years. Season pass holders are finally getting their money’s worth after a few short seasons that were skimpy on the snow. These first few cold, snowy weeks of March bode well for Bristol Mountain’s annual Spring Carnival celebration, coming up the weekend of March 17-18.

A Spring Skiing Extravaganza

Bristol’s Spring Carnival says goodbye to the ski season with a celebration. During Carnival weekend, Nordic trail tickets are free for all ages, and kids under 12 get a FREE Alpine lift ticket. Just keep in mind that kids need to be accompanied by a paying adult, and there’s an additional cost for equipment rentals. While much of the special programming is designed for younger skiers and riders, grown-ups do have a few highlights to look forward to. Anyone with sufficient ability can take part in the brand-new Banked Slalom Course or the Spring Rail Jam. The Race to the Summit poses a challenge to athletes of all ages. Best of all, the Slush Cup is back from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday with a 50-foot pond to cushion your descent. Wear your finest costume in your attempt to emerge gracefully and un-soaked. When it comes to kids’ stuff, there’s a ton to take part in — both indoors and out.
