June 2018

What’s better than a Western New York summer weekend? A midweek summer holiday, of course! We at Erie Station Village wish you and your loved ones a sunny, delicious, and safe Independence Day. To help you make the most of this federal holiday, here are some celebrations happening in the Rochester area that you’re welcome to be a part of.

Rochester Red Wings

So you’ll be home for the 4th? So will the Rochester Red Wings! Head over to Frontier Field for an Independence Day celebration of America’s favorite pastime. The game vs. the Pawtucket Red Sox starts at 7:05 p.m. and will be followed by the biggest post-game fireworks display of the season. Fans can also take part in a patriotic-themed jersey auction. Buy tickets online before game day and SAVE!

City of Rochester

Each year, Rochester celebrates the July 4th Independence Day holiday in style with a spectacular display of fireworks. Festivities begin on the Main Street Bridge, from South Ave to Exchange. Thanks to performances at 7:30 and 9 pm, it’s crucial that you arrive early to secure your spot at this prime fireworks-viewing location. The fireworks will light up the skies at 10 p.m. Free parking is available at a variety of nearby garages.

The RPO

Just before the celebration gets explosive, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will take the stage at Main Street Bridge. It’s the perfect time to instill an appreciation for classical music in loved ones of any age. Director Ward Stare will lead a program of patriotic favorites that everyone knows by heart. Rochester’s traditional Independence Day Concert begins at 9 pm.

Town of Henrietta

If you’d rather stay close to home, join the Town of Henrietta for its 4th of July fete. Begin your day at the Henrietta Senior Center for the annual Craft and Garage Sale from 9 am to 2 pm.  Then head to Veterans Memorial Park at 4 pm for live bands, games for the kids, and food vendors. It all culminates with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:40 pm.

Genesee Country Village & Museum

To go back in time, you’ll have to hit the road. By visiting the Genesee Country Village & Museum for their celebration of Independence Day, you can share with your family a truly memorable holiday experience. The 4th of July at GCV is a fun, relaxing day outdoors. You can pick up a picnic plate, lounge in the Village Square, and enjoy the patriotic tunes of the Geneseo Cornet Band. Special festivities include a historic 1876 Grand Parade, the swearing in of new American citizens, and a moment when people from countries all over the world pledge their allegiance to the stars & stripes. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
