RPO’s The Nutcracker

Sit back in the beauty of Eastman Theatre, November 22nd through 26th, and make holiday memories that will last a lifetime. This enchanting holiday favorite is brought to life by Rochester City Ballet, with Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score performed live by Rochester’s world-class Philharmonic Orchestra. This traditional rendering will feature the Bach Children’s Chorus and Michael Butterman as conductor.

The Nutcracker by the New York State Ballet

If the key to your Nutcracker experience lies in the dancing, then don’t miss the New York State Ballet at the Kodak Center for Performing Arts December 10th through 12th. The suite will be performed by a live orchestra under the direction of Jared Chase, conductor, and feature Lyric Voices — a premier local performing group for kids ages 10 – 14.

The Hip-Hop Nutcracker

Want a fresh take on a well-known piece? You’re in luck. On its tour of 28 U.S. cities, The Hip Hop Nutcracker will be stopping in Rochester for one night only. Snag a ticket for December 20th at the Auditorium Theatre to enjoy a holiday mash-up for the whole family. The show re-imagines Tchaikovsky’s classic score through explosive hip-hop choreography. A dozen all-star dancers, an on-stage DJ, and an electric violinist bring the traditional Nutcracker story to life in contemporary New York City. This show celebrates love, community and the magic of the holiday season.
