Area Activity Guide: The Gardens at the George Eastman House
May 2015
The weather is finally starting to get consistently nice, and that means everyone’s gardens will soon be blooming and blossoming with beauty. So why not go out and enjoy a few? Some of the most beautiful public gardens in the area (if not the whole state!) can be found a mere 15-minute drive from Erie Station Village Apartments.
The George Eastman House, located on East Avenue in the city, is home to absolutely stunning gardens, which you can read about here, as well as see some pictures. You’re free to go an explore them on your own, but starting in May, the museum also hosts guided tours through the different sections, which can be both relaxing and enlightening. There is more information regarding times of the tours on the Tour page. It’s a wonderful way to spend a morning or afternoon.
In keeping with the garden theme, starting this Saturday (the 9th) and running through early September, the Special Exhibition called “In The Garden” highlights photography of gardens, flowers, and all kinds of plant-life. More than 75 photographers’ work is represented here, spanning myriad subjects, time periods, and techniques. It promises to be fascinating.
We’ve all been waiting for the famous May Flowers, so now that they’re here, get out and see some!
