Area Activity Guide: Susan B. Anthony Festival

Susan B Antony Poster

August 2015

Last week, we mentioned how there are a lot of historically significant people from our great city in our discussion of the James Card exhibit at the George Eastman House. Well, without question, another of these historical figures (who looms large not just on NY history, but US history itself) would be Susan B. Anthony. Since she is a local legend, it’s only fitting that Rochester will again be celebrating the 95th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment (which gave women the right to vote) at the Susan B. Anthony festival on August 16th.

The festival will fittingly be held at Susan B. Anthony Square Park, which is less than a 20 minute drive from Erie Station Village. Festivities start at 1PM and run until 4PM, and include live music, entertainment, local food and drink, artists, free walking tours of the surrounding historical district, and even discounted tours of the Susan B. Anthony House! We are very fortunate to call a legend like Susan B. Anthony one of our own, and we hope you’ll make the trip to her memorial park on Saturday to celebrate her role in one of the monumental movements and moments in our great nation’s history!
