Area Activity Guide: Sterling Renaissance Fair
June 2019
Travel to another time.
The Sterling Renaissance Festival is back for its 43rd season! This historical Fair offers something for everyone as they experience life in 1585 England, in a small country town outside of London. Fairgoers witness astonishing feats of swordplay, jovial comedy, magic shows, and more. Come for the finely crafted artisan wares and stay for the knights’ fiery joust. Of course, there is also hearty food and ale. (What would a festival be without ale?)
A Rare Full-Time Troupe
One thing that sets Sterling Renaissance Festival apart from other Fairs is the full-time troupe of performers. The Wyldewood Players is the oldest full-time professional acting troupe of any Renaissance Festival. See them during Lane Encounters, and also look for planned and impromptu stage performances throughout the weekend.
Choose your own adventure.
To help you plan your perfect Renaissance day, the Sterling website features a “pick your itinerary” page. Choose the type of experience that you are hoping to have, and you’ll be offered a list of options laid out to fit your fancy. For example, if you are visiting The Fair with young children, you can choose a schedule that minimizes walking between activities. For a bawdier experience that starts a little later, pick Adult Option B.
Look the part (if you like).
The Sterling Renaissance Festival is a great place to bring the family, a group of friends, or to explore on your own. Period and themed costumes are not required, but they’re encouraged and add to the experience. You’ll find plenty of rental options on site that you can rent for the day. Sterling Renaissance Festival spans 35 acres in the humble town of Warwick, NY. The whole town comes alive with merriment every Saturday and Sunday between July 6th and August 18th, rain or shine. Doors open at 10 am and close at 7 pm. Each weekend has a unique theme, so be sure to visit the website for details and to find an itinerary. A whimsical world awaits!
