Work & Play in High Falls

You work and the professional musicians play, that is. During the summer months, Hochstein at High Falls gives you the opportunity to treat yourself to a midday escape. The noontime, 10-week summer concert series Hochstein at High Falls runs June 7 to August 16, 2018, on Thursday afternoons, beginning at 12:10 pm at the Granite Mills Park at 104 Platt Street. These weekly concerts are presented by the High Falls Business Association, The Hochstein School, WXXI, and Monroe Community College (MCC), and sponsored by local organizations. If you don’t work nearby but have flexible time midday, Thursday lunchtime is a wonderful time to visit the High Falls Historic District, explore the Visitor Center and Interpretive Museum, stroll across the Pont De Rennes pedestrian bridge, and catch a free concert while you’re at it.

Explore Local Music

Catch a live performance by a different local musical act each week, with styles ranging from jazz and blues to Latin, folk, indie rock, and bossa nova. Each performance can be expected to run approximately 40 minutes. New this year: the rain location is at MCC’s downtown campus at 321 State Street. Last-minute updates (like weather-related venue changes) are announced via social media, so be sure to follow Hochstein at High Falls on Facebook.

Grab a Bite!

And what would a lunch break be without food and drinks? A handful of vendors will be on site each week, and concert-goers can also call ahead to order takeout meals from La Luna or Fina’s Cafe. If you don’t prefer an on-the-ground picnic approach, you’ll definitely want to bring your own chair.
