Area Activity Guide: Be the Astronaut
September 2018
Where Imaginations Blast Off!
It’s been a while since we shared an event for the younger set. The new Be the Astronaut exhibit, opening September 15th at the Strong Museum, will fascinate adults and children alike. Aspiring astronauts can choose their own adventure in roles including scientist, engineer, navigator, and doctor, in an interactive and educational experience. Once everyone has been briefed on mission goals, you’ll visit stellar locations like the Moon, Mars, an Asteroid Belt, Jupiter, and Deep Space. Should you get stuck, AI-programmed robots will lend you a hand.
Education for Everyone
Kids will learn about the STEM (technology and math) skills required to succeed as an astronaut. They’ll also get to fly a virtual spaceship, pilot a futuristic lander and rover designed in collaboration with NASA, and explore virtual terrain developed from NASA’s lunar data. Grown-ups will be excited to see actual artifacts from space, memorabilia from Space Race, and full-size space suits.
Access to Be the Astronaut is included in Strong Museum admission. The exhibit is on view through January 7, 2019.
