Area Activity Guide: 2016’s Brief Leaf Peep
October 2016
Thanks to long periods of drought this year, Upstate New York is in for a short leaf peeping season. The depth and variety of hues might be a little less spectacular than usual, but with all the water around to reflect them, peepers will still be able to find some magical views. Rochester is at the tail end of the leaf-turning timeline, so we’ll get to indulge in at-home views little longer than other WNY locales. Get your trips to the Adirondacks and Catskills in early, then stay close to home for the last of the fall foliage. And if you’ve never made it to the Grand Canyon of the East, get the whole family down to Letchworth State Park for unforgettable reflections on the river and mist over the waterfalls.
