What’s going on inside all those buildings at RIT?

Thanks to the Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival, you don’t have to imagine. This annual event transforms RIT’s expansive Henrietta campus into a wonderland of presentations, demonstrations, exhibits, and hands-on experiences that immerse the public in innovation. Throughout the festival, you’ll see how students combine high-tech and artistic skills to apply emerging technologies and solve problems in fresh new ways.

Among the hundreds of pursuits on display, you’ll find cutting-edge ideas related to virtual reality, energy production, gaming, robotics, and health sciences. It’s an opportunity to witness how students and faculty are reinventing the ways we make and understand art, music, and language. Sprinkled amongst all the newfangled technologies will be representatives from student organizations and old-school sports like equestrian and fencing.

Imagine RIT’s 10^th Anniversary

2017 is a big year for Imagine RIT. In addition to capping off its first decade of continuous growth, the 10th annual iteration of the celebration will also be a testament to the legacy of outgoing President Bill Destler. The idea for Imagine RIT (named after the John Lennon song) was his back in 2007. His vision of attracting 30,000 visitors to explore the productivity of the student body, which has already been achieved in years past, is sure to be realized this May.

Something for Everyone

Imagine RIT is one event in advance of which you might want to spend some time planning your itinerary. There will be hundreds of exhibits, but fortunately, they’re organized into convenient categories and laid out intuitively on the festival map. In addition to all those demonstrations, there will also be an array of performances taking place throughout the day. And don’t forget the food! On-campus eateries will be serving up all sorts of sustenance, food trucks will be on hand to supplement, and snacks (including tons of ice cream) will be easy to track down. Did we mention that Imagine RIT is FREE?

Parking: Visitors can park for free on the RIT campus on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is also available at the Monroe Community College Brighton campus, with free shuttle bus service to RIT.
