Sun, Sand & the Sounds of Summer

Summer in Rochester (and all of Upstate New York, really) is all about spending time on, near, or in the water. As a local company, Wegmans probably understands that as well as anyone. Appropriately, everyone’s favorite grocer has teamed up with the Ontario Beach Park Program Committee to bring the sounds of summer to the waterfront park every Wednesday night. And they’ve been doing it for 28 years! Wegmans Concerts by the Shore is a weekly summer music series where local bands perform on the shores of Lake Ontario. The 13-week series features a diverse array of live bands and draws thousands of people to Rochester’s very own inland ocean. All concerts begin at 7:00 pm and end at 9:00 pm (except for the Rochester Philharmonic performance, which starts at 7:30 pm). All dates except July 4th feature a concession stand manned by Wegmans employees. Just be sure to arrive early, as these free concerts draw quite a crowd!

• August 15th – Rochester Metropolitan Jazz Band (Big Band)

• August 29th – Ruby Shooz (50’s & 60’s Rock & Roll)
