Area Activity Guide: ROCO 6×6 Party All Month

February 2017

March is 6×6 Party Month!

What you might call the “main event” associated with 6x6x2017 — the exhibition’s opening-night Art Sale extravaganza — doesn’t take place until June 3rd, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start celebrating now. Rochester Contemporary Art Center and ambassadors throughout the city will be hosting or sponsoring 6×6-themed events all Spring! March, in particular, offers abundant opportunities for you and your friends to “get square.”

Thursday, March 2, 6-8pm: Ross Fest kicks off Party Month. You read that right. It’s a Bob Ross themed art-making party brought to you in part by WXXI. Access art-making the way that Bob would have wanted.

Friday, March 10, 5-9pm: Join the RocCity Coalition for a Young Professional Art-Making Night. Not only can you learn from the pros how to incorporate origami or paper quilting into your artwork; you’ll also get to network with and learn more about RocCity Coalition, an organization dedicated to making Rochester a more vibrant, engaging community that is both attractive to, and supportive, of young professionals.

Friday, March 17, 6-9pm: Want your creations to deserve the distinction of “fine art?” Members of the Print Club of Rochester will be on hand to share their knowledge and master at a St. Patrick’s Day Print-Making event.

So Much More! These events created in partnership with RoCo are just the beginning. Just keep your eye out for event postings on Facebook and flyers posted throughout the city. The 6×6 event inspires thousands of Rochesterians and artists throughout the United States and the world to get creative each year. Share the love by joining an existing event or hosting your own!

Wherever you make them, just be sure to get your submissions in before the April 16th deadline!
