Area Activity Guide:Nordic Fest at Cumming Nature Center

February 2017

Here’s hoping for snow!

Remember the good ol’ days when “weather permitting” in Rochester meant “if you can tunnel through the snow and get out of your house”? Well, we’re not having that kind of winter, so let’s all hope there’s snow for the 2017 Nordic Fest at Cumming Nature Center. This affordable event will get the whole family outside for just a $10 requested donation (or $3 for a solo individual). If you happen to be a member of the Rochester Museum & Science Center, it’s totally free!

Nordic Skiing & Culture

Spend an afternoon exploring the grounds of the Cumming Nature Center on Saturday, February 18th or Sunday, February 19th. There will be chili and baked goods for purchase, and every yummy bite supports the important work of the Genesee Valley Ski Patrol. More adventurous attendees can register for the 10K Snowshoe Race on Saturday or a Ski Orienteering meet with the Rochester Orienteering Club on Sunday. Weather permitting, anyone can use the ski and snowshoe trails, and rentals will be available for those who don’t bring their own gear. Even if it’s 52 and sunny, you can still learn about Scandinavian culture from local organizations.
