Area Activity Guide: Canandaigua Art & Music Festival

July 2017

Canandaigua is Calling.

It’s not a Finger Lakes summer without a trip to historic Canandaigua and the lake that shares its name. The Historic Downtown Canandaigua Art & Music Festival is the perfect reason to stroll the streets of this lovely town. Whether you’re accustomed to lounging lakeside or drawn to the bustle of a summer gathering, this festival during the middle weekend of July offers something for everyone.

Art & Music

July 14th through 16th, a juried art festival will take over Main Street, showcasing more than 100 talented artists, crafters, and exhibitors who work in many different mediums. Visitors can expect to peruse one-of-a-kind wares in the categories of ceramics, pottery, jewelry, woodworking, leather, fiber, glass, photography, and gourmet foods. The festival also highlights young artists, giving student artists the chance to display and sell their handiwork. For those who appreciate the less tangible arts, each day also brings diverse musical acts to the stage to provide live entertainment, starting at noon and extending into the evening.

Food & Fun

Over the years, the festival has grown beyond its artistic beginning to include children’s activities and an array of food vendors. A variety of local organizations will be hosting Family Fun activities on the Community Cause-Way, from contests to win prizes to face painting and tie dye. When it comes to concessions, summertime favorites like lemonade, fried dough, kettle corn, and hot dogs will be available all weekend. And there will be a Food Truck Rodeo on Friday!
