Area Activity Guide: Mess-tival at RMSC

April 2017

Spring Break Shenanigans

Didn’t we just have February break? Spring break is a special time to remind parents just how much their kids will need during the upcoming months. Rochester, however, is up to the task of packing the calendar between school terms. Mess-tival is just the kind of fun, educational activity in a safe, kid-friendly environment that we look for to fill the days during the spring and summer breaks.

A Festival of Mess

There’s not much that kids like more than getting their hands dirty, so Rochester Museum & Science Center gives them every opportunity to do so — away from your carpets, walls, cars, and pets. “Slimy, Silly & Gross” is the slogan of Mess-tival, and the event delivers with new ways to interact with gooey and yucky substances each day. It’s not all just about splattering and sloshing, though. This being a science museum, there are plenty of experts on hand to guide experiments and explain the madness behind the mess.

Diverse Discoveries Every Day

Despite a multitude of messy activities, some kids might want to explore beyond the slime and slop. That’s the perfect reason to bring the whole family to RMSC during spring break. Mess-tival coincides with the last few days of the awe-inspiring Elements of the Extreme exhibit. Both are included with regular museum admission for all ages, so visitors will get to experience two special events for the price of one. Adding even more excitement to Mess-tival is the fact that Wildlife Defenders will be on hand each day from 12:30 to 2:30 for live animal presentations which include regional and exotic birds, mammals and reptiles!
